Why is it so difficult to find a lower back pain treatment that really works?

Why is it so difficult to find a lower back pain treatment that really works?

It's strange isn't it? Chronic lower back pain affects millions of people around the world every day, making their lives miserable and costing our economies a fortune in lost working days and sick pay. But despite their best efforts, most people struggle to find a lower back pain treatment that really works for more than a few days, or even a few hours.

All too often the result is an endless cycle of expensive treatments that only ever seem to bring (at best) temporary relief. Why do you think this is?

It's certainly not because there is any shortage of treatments being offered. Treating lower back pain is now big business, with a dizzying array of treatments to choose from. And there are lots of willing patients - in the U.S. for example, lower back pain is now the second most common reason someone goes to see their doctor (after the common cold).

And no, it's not because there isn't such a thing as an effective lower back pain treatment either - there is. Any other ideas?

In fact there are several important reasons why treating lower back pain fails to produce lasting results for most people and I'll list them for you in a minute. But, before I do, and before I explore some of the most common treatment options, you should know that there is one reason that stands out from the rest.

Make no mistake, after many years of research, there is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that 'reason number 1' is the SINGLE most important reason why treating lower back pain fails to bring lasting results AND the single most important obstacle that stops most lower back pain sufferers from finding a cure!

REASON NUMBER 1: You Have To Cure Yourself

The fact is that on their own, a lower back pain treatment or series of treatments CANNOT cure most cases of chronic lower back pain. It's simply impossible. No approach to treating your lower back pain will do more than temporarily relive your symptoms until you realize that YOU HAVE TO CURE IT YOURSELF!

That's right, even with the best intentions in the world, no one else can do it for you because only you can do what is necessary to reverse the root cause of your chronic lower back pain. You just need to know how.

Now please don't misunderstand me. Superb therapists / health practitioners will definitely help. In fact a really good practitioner can make a huge difference! (More on how to choose a practitioner later)

But until you finally understand that ONLY YOU can ultimately take control and cure yourself of chronic lower back pain, then you will continue to be stuck on an expensive and frustrating treatment cycle, year after year after year. And that's no good for anyone - except maybe your practitioner ;) REASON NUMBER 2: Misdiagnosis - The Red Herring

Unfortunately it is no exaggeration to say that this problem is rampant throughout the back pain 'industry'. It causes immense suffering, confusion, frustration and often results in dangerous, counterproductive and unnecessary surgical procedures and treatments. Ultimately, misdiagnosis is responsible for delaying recovery rates for millions of lower back pain sufferers or making their condition worse

The two most common conditions that are mistakenly used to explain lower back pain are bulging or herniated discs and degenerative disc disease.

REASON NUMBER 3: The Gulf between Good and Bad Practitioners

No two health practitioners are the same. Nowhere is this more obvious than with those practitioners offering treatments for lower back pain. There are some excellent ones, but unfortunately many bad or ineffective ones - and even some crooks. It goes without saying, therefore, that if you choose one that isn't very good - which is so easy to do - your recovery is going to be hindered rather than helped.

REASON NUMBER 4: Conventional doctors Medicine and Lower Back Pain

If you have suffered lower back pain for any length of time then it is very important that you go and see your doctor. This is especially important if you have a history of illness or disease or if your pain is accompanied by other symptoms like numbness, chest pain, bowel or bladder problems or progressive weakness of your leg muscles with pins and needles.

Having said this, the reason that you should see your doctor isn’t because he or she is likely to be able to cure your lower back pain – the fact is that in most cases they can’t – but rather because it is important to eliminate the possibility that your pain is being caused by disease.
